It’s getting colder so now is the time to get your log stores full, ready for the upcoming winter months. Here are a few frequently asked questions that we get about our firewood to help you out before making your order…

Q) What type of wood are your logs?

A) A mixture of Beech, Ash, Birch, Oak and Cherry.

Q) what size are your logs?

A) 9 inches in length (23cm) These should fit in the majority of wood Burning stoves. Please check before placing an order.

Q) Where do you source your timber from?

A) We work alongside a forestry management company to source timber within a 40-mile radius of the farm shop. We also request Valid felling licenses and Management plans to demonstrate timber is sourced from legal and sustainable resources.

Q) How much does a load of logs weigh?

A) Selling Firewood by weight can often be misleading. We take great care making sure are logs have a low moisture content and burn well. They therefore weigh less than the equivalent volume of unseasoned wood, so if you purchase Firewood by weight please check you are not paying for water rather than wood. For Reference our 1.2m3 load weigh approx. 400kg.

Often Firewood is sold as a “Tonne of wood”. This can be misleading and should be avoided. “Tonne” often refers to a Builders tonne bag which contains Approx. 0.8m3 of firewood weighing approx 260kg

Q) Are your logs kiln dried?

A) We achieve they same moisture content (<20%) as kiln dried logs but without wasting energy on artificial drying. We harness the gentle breeze that mother nature provides in traditional drying techniques which have been around for thousands of years. Why change work works?

Q) Do you logs meet the new regulations?

A) YES! 100%. We are approved “Ready TO Burn” suppliers and can be found on WoodSure website. Feel free to click on the link below

A) There are approximately 22 bags of logs in a single (1.2m3) load

Q) How do I pay for them?

A) We accept card payments over the phone at the time of ordering or if needed we will accept cash on delivery.

Q) Can you stack logs inside my Home?

A) I’m afraid not. We can only stack logs in appropriate outside spaces such as woodstores, garages, shed and alongside walls etc. Good access for wheelbarrows is a must.

Q) How are your logs Delivered?

A) They are delivered Loose and tipped in a convenient location. We can deliver Monday-Friday with some delivery spots on Saturdays during busy periods.

Q) I live outside your delivery area, can I collect?
